Where are you from?

Hi Linnea! Thank you so much for having me! I’m originally from Los Angeles, CA, born and raised, but I now reside in Highland, CA.

What is the name of your business, and what does it entail?

I am the owner and operator of an amazing natural skincare company called Ajabu Kabisa Skin LLC. Our name means “Amazing Absolutely!” in Swahili. Ajabu Kabisa Skin is an all-natural skincare brand with an intentional focus on the revitalization of mature, aging skin, yet it is beneficial for all skin types. We are all gender-inclusive.

What inspired you to go into the skincare business?

I have always known the benefits of botanicals, such as aloe vera, for the healing and protection of the skin and the benefits natural ingredients provide. My youngest son hated using store-bought lotions on his skin, so he stayed ashy! I started experimenting and extracting fresh aloe vera gel from the plant, incorporating olive oil into the mix. The concoction cleared my son’s skin, and he asked me to make more. I was excited and began formulating a skin cream with shea butter and various oils. I soon created a beautiful body butter that everyone, especially my son, loved! Thus, Ajabu Kabisa Skin was born!

Tell us about some of the products you offer and their benefits.

Our Lemon Poppyseed Sugar Scrub is a customer fave! It’s super hydrating and moisturizing, leaving your skin soft and glowing with a gentle exfoliation. It also diminishes the look of fine lines and wrinkles. It is formulated to be gentle on your face but great to use all over. Next is our Facial Lather which offers a gentle yet effective cleanse, shrinks pores, and fights acne. It’s amazing for shaving and reduces shaving irritation and ingrown hairs. Consistent use of “The Beauty Quad” skincare system (four products, which include the two products mentioned) allows consumers to look younger and change the life of their skin without heavy chemicals and/or expensive procedures. Our products provide an innovative layering effect, with each being formulated to complement the other, thereby working in unison to deliver amazing results!

Since you’ve been on your entrepreneurial journey, what has your experience been like thus far?

A lot of trial and error, but so worth it. I absolutely LOVE what I do! Our products allow consumers to experience the wonders of nature and amazing skin simultaneously without it being complicated!

During those challenging moments of running a business, how do you keep yourself going?

I constantly remind myself of my WHY! Our brand addresses the need for naked yet effective skincare solutions. It is our mission to educate and alleviate common skincare concerns, NATURALLY! I am in awe of the results my customers experience and how happy it makes them! The feedback has been phenomenal, and I am truly grateful and excited for the trending popularity of clean and natural skincare!

When you’re not busy working, how are you practicing self-care and pouring into yourself?

Ooooh, a lot of self-talk, conversations with God, brainstorming, practicing positivity, and attracting all things amazing! And using my own skincare line to pamper myself, of course!

When it comes to women and our women’s community, what would you like to see more of?

I would like to see more of us loving on ourselves! Self-care (whatever that is for you) is so important for our mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. When we are well, we treat those around us well. We begin to see each other as allies, not competitors. Our tribe gets stronger, we build as a community, and WE WIN!
