Welcome, Autumn! How are you doing today?
Thank you. I’m feeling free and expressive.
First, I just want to tell you that your vocal style and abilities are phenomenal. Where did your love and passion for singing and storytelling begin? Have you ever had vocal training?
My passion for singing and storytelling began at a very early age around three years old. I remember always singing “Three Blind Mice” and truly believing it was my song (laughs).
As I got older, especially between the ages of eight and ten, I began to understand my love for singing and writing on a deeper level.
I’ve never had formal vocal training. God truly gave me this voice as a gift. However, along the way, many people have helped guide me in learning how to use that gift with proper technique, confidence, and boldness.
You have a new single coming out called “Between Us” on 02.20.2026, available exclusively right now on EVEN. Congratulations! What inspired this song, and what genre can we expect?
This song was actually inspired by my husband Patrick “PatCiti” Charles , who is also a singer-songwriter. He recently landed a Mariah Carey song placement titled “Sugar Sweet,” which is such a blessing.
But beyond that, my husband and I went through a very difficult season in 2021. There were people in the industry who tried to turn us against each other, and it truly felt like the enemy was doing everything possible to break our union.
My single “Between Us” represents our decision to stand together in unity, no matter what comes our way. It’s a declaration that through hell or high water, we are not going anywhere because we refuse to let anything come between what God has ordained.
Musically, you can expect an Afrobeat/pop sound with an Amapiano influence. It’s definitely a body mover.
When it comes to combining vulnerability with music, how imperative is that for you, and what impact do you hope to have on listeners?
Vulnerability is extremely important to me because music is truly my safe space. When I create, I’m expressing real emotions and real experiences.
My hope is that my music becomes a safe space for others too especially for people who may struggle to find peace, calmness, or an escape from life’s challenges.
I want my music to reach everyone: men, women, children, young and old, and provide comfort, strength, and serenity.
So many people face challenges along their journey. What obstacles have you overcome, and what kept you going?
When I look back, I realize I’ve overcome so many challenges, miscarriages, marital struggles, eviction, and even homelessness.
Homelessness was one of the hardest things I’ve ever faced because I had never experienced life without a home before. Moving to California while pursuing my dream felt like such a heavy obstacle, and at times, it felt like a dream crusher.
But it also pushed me deeper into my faith. It gave me a stronger understanding of who Christ is and continues to be in my life. God has provided everything I have ever needed.
If I could encourage anyone today, I would say: if you don’t know how to swim, float. There is peace even in the waiting. Jesus spoke to the waves and said, “Peace, be still.”
Don’t move out of desperation. Don’t be anxious. Trust that God’s peace surpasses all understanding, and He will direct your path if you allow Him to.
Christ kept me going, but so did my husband and my children. Giving up on my dreams would have felt like giving up on them too.
When you’re not busy, how do you practice self-care to take care of your mental well-being?
Self-care is very important to me. I go to the gym, run errands alone, take myself shopping, and even treat myself to meals or massages.
Most importantly, I stay in constant communication with Yahweh throughout the day because He is truly my peace. He strengthens me in every storm.
Being a mother of six and a wife can sometimes feel overwhelming, but I’m learning how to navigate each day by keeping prayer and God at the center.
Our spiritual lives and practical lives go hand in hand. While we pray and meditate, we must also care for our physical bodies. As Scripture says, “Faith without works is dead.”
So it’s important not only to pray, but also to live in good health.

Thank you so much, Autumn!
