I would like to introduce you all to Dahnisha Hannah! She is the founder and Chief Strategist of Done with Dots, originally founded as Donnie’s Dots in 2019. She is working to empower the community and assist others with attaining their goals through professional and personal development. Their coaching and consultant services are designed to bring ideas to fruition. It started off as a personal exploration of self-love and acceptance and has transformed into a coaching and consulting company dedicated to helping others navigate similar challenges. She’s also an author. I received the opportunity to interview her! Check it out below!
Where are you from?
I am from Washington, DC. Born at Howard University Hospital and raised in Ward 5.
Tell us about your business Done with Dots, what you do, and the story behind why you started this business.
Our journey began with the establishment of Donnie’s Dots in 2019, coinciding with Dahnisha Adams, Founder & Chief Strategist, publishing her debut book, “Connect the Dots: Discovering Self-Love With Skin Imperfections,” as a personal and communal coping mechanism for individuals, including herself, affected by Keloids. As we expanded and evolved, we recognized an increasing demand for tailored coaching and consulting services.
In 2023, we rebranded as Done With Dots, symbolizing the fulfillment and accomplishment of milestones, tasks, and projects. The term “dots” signifies the intricate details and actions necessary to achieve larger objectives, reflecting our commitment to efficiency and effectiveness in all endeavors. Whether assisting in personal growth, launching new ventures, scaling businesses, or navigating career transitions, we stand ready to support our clients every step of the way.
What has the entrepreneurial journey been like for you thus far?
My entrepreneurial journey has had its’ ebbs and flows, resulting in a rollercoaster of emotions—excitement, exhaustion, discouragement, frustration, fulfillment, and joy. Above all, it’s been a testament to my faith. When we focus intensely on our dreams or goals, they can become our refuge, blinding us to God’s divine strategy and often resisting inconveniences necessary for fulfilling our divine purpose. True purpose often demands inconvenience, discomfort, and even breaking. He couldn’t bless it if he didn’t break it, because the blessing was in the breaking.
When you’re not busy, how are you practicing self-care?
When I’m not busy working, I practice self-care through writing, painting, dancing for exercise, listening to music, traveling, enjoying spa days, and spending time with family and friends.
When it comes to women and our women’s community, what would you like to see more of?
I hope to see more women breaking generational curses within themselves, their families, friendships, and businesses. Many women claim to support and empower other women, but deep down, some still harbor mean-spirited tendencies. It’s crucial to prioritize personal development and address our own flaws before attempting to empower others. Our goal should be to leave a positive impact on women, not a scar.
