Cherise’s (aka Reese) love for and passion for dance began at Thomas G. Pullen Performing Arts School. It was there that she participated in the dance program from kindergarten through 8th grade under the guidance of Stanley Marcellus Reynolds. As part of their curriculum, she was trained in ballet/modern, jazz, hip-hop, and African dance and performed in numerous productions, including The Sleeping Beauty, The Jungle Book, and The Wizard of Oz.
From 1996 to 1999, as a student at Central Senior High School, she was a member of the dance team led by Renawn Saulters and Danelle Cheeks, both former Redskinettes. Their training included ballet/modern, jazz, and hip-hop. Cherise had the honor of performing at prestigious venues such as the Apollo Theater in NYC, the Lincoln Theater in Washington, DC, and FedEx Field Stadium (Redskins halftime shows). In addition, she has participated in various dance competitions throughout the Washington, DC, metropolitan area, including the Six Flags of America’s Spring Spectacular, winning first place in the Jazz/Hip-Hop/Funk division.
Cherise is a former member and coach of the Dream Makers All Star Dance Team, specifically with the teams Visions and Illusions. Her extensive experience has opened doors in choreography, instructing dance and fitness, and coordinating church events and programs.
As an instructor, she taught Cardio Hip Hop Aerobics and Adult Chair Dance classes at XER Training, LLC in Waldorf, MD, under the direction of Derrick Terry, and led Cardio Aerobics sessions at A Red Door Studio under Tasha Williams. She also instructed at Pump It Up Waldorf, MD, and the Waldorf Senior Center. During her tenure as an instructor at The Waldorf Senior Center, she developed a love for creative modifications while instructing tailored fitness classes. Cherise’s clients greatly appreciated her patience and ability to customize her workouts to their fitness levels.
“Currently, I teach dance fitness and step cardio in the DMV area. My mission is to provide individuals of all ages with opportunities to achieve personal and professional goals in dance and fitness, build self-esteem, and develop confidence. I am dedicated to challenging every student, and adult in their dance technique and fitness. I believe that dance and fitness are art forms that, when expressed at their highest level, reflect discipline and technique. My goal is to help each class participant not only reach, but also exceed this level. Remember, you are only as good, as the people you surround yourself with.”
