Where are you from?

I was born and raised in Maryland and am now residing in Miami, Florida.

What’s the inspiration behind why you became an entrepreneur? 

Although I worked many conventional jobs from my teen years and up, including being a State of Maryland employee for many years, I always wanted more. Something inside of me always knew that I was different and that I had to raise the bar for myself. Which came with many challenges along the way in finding myself and establishing myself as an entrepreneur; however, nothing is more rewarding than creating a means of income for yourself and others as well. That, in essence, was my inspiration.

Tell us about your amazing luxury concierge business and what it entails.

Thank you for that. In this moment, I just realized that my brand is, in fact, amazing. As is everyone’s who’s taken that leap of faith to bet on themselves.

My services at Dawn West, the brand with Rich Charters under that umbrella, are a full-service concierge service. Which includes luxury yacht charters, private jet charters, and luxury rental cars, as well as the curating of luxury events and planning group stays and outings while visiting. The mission is to always ensure the client has an experience that exceeds their expectations and forever goes down as a time being had! Lol. I service Miami and the DMV.

Since you’ve been on your entrepreneurial journey, what has your experience been like thus far?

The experience has been beautiful and eye-opening. That absolutely doesn’t mean that it didn’t come with bumps in the road or any problems, as I mentioned earlier. It simply means that I’ve found my flow, and through some adversity, I’m able to mentor others, and I hope that they can avoid making some of the mistakes I have made along the journey.

I know that you wear many beautiful hats in business, and you are constantly helping others. Share your other entrepreneurial endeavors with us, and how do you balance multiple businesses? 

I absolutely wear quite a few hats. Whew. Lol. That is actually how I decided to go with my name as my brand, because I literally AM my brand across the board. I have self-published three books. I’ve helped some other talented authors get theirs published as well. More work is on the way soon.

I coach people on how they can monetize their cell phones since we are living in a time where multiple income streams are more of a necessity than a luxury! And I also coach a team in my health and wellness business through Total Life Changes, which I started during the pandemic. I am able to handle multiple businesses because they are all managed with just a little bit of wifi, aka my cellphone. Of course, I have to physically show up to do catering and decor for my yacht charters or events. But all in all, I love juggling it all and wouldn’t change it. Well, besides adding to my concierge team, which is currently in the works as well. 

During those challenging moments of running a business, how do you keep yourself going?

I make sure I do my part in keeping my physical body healthy and take my supplements, which do wonders. But what really keeps me going is the determination to leave a legacy for my grandchildren, their children, their children, and so on. None of it is about me. I took all of the hits on the chin to one day be able to make sure that they can live a life of ease.

When you’re not busy working, how are you practicing self-care and pouring into yourself?

When I feel like my “fuel” is running low, I reset by taking a pool or beach day most times. Something about being on, in, or near the water brings me such a sense of calmness. I literally just do nothing and allow my body to reset. I know that I am no good to anyone if I’m no good to myself.

When it comes to women and our women’s community, what would you like to see more of? 

I’d love to see more collaboration. We are a force to be reckoned with when we come together. There’s room for everyone at the table.
