What is the story or inspiration behind why you started your podcast?

I created Chronicles of a Virgo Podcast in January 2022 as a way to encourage and motivate others to heal and become better individuals. After enduring my share of traumatic encounters and dealing with my own share of personal mental health issues, I realized that my past didn’t dictate my future. I finally reclaimed my power. This is the same message that I wanted to convey to others who may feel stuck in life or feel that due to their past trauma experiences, healing isn’t possible!

Growing up in a black household, many things were swept under the rug and Mental Health wasn’t a serious subject matter. I was silenced at a young age after years of sexual abuse that poured over into my adult life. The uncovered truths and encounters left me scared, broken, and feeling voiceless and unseen.

That was until my last suicide attempt in 2019. That is when I began my blog as a way to deepen my healing with self-expression, but also a way to reach others. Then, I finally gained the confidence to move forward with the podcast, a new creation was birthed, and it has been a pure joy ever since! Not only have I been able to continue my own personal healing, but I am also encouraging and empowering others to do the same.

What do you enjoy most about podcasting, and what are some challenges?

Something that I enjoy most about podcasting is being able to connect with so many people from many walks of life. For so long, I truly felt that I didn’t fit in many spaces and that I was misunderstood by many. Podcasting gave me the voice I’ve always desired to have, and the confidence that God is using me for a greater good!

I am grateful for this journey and even the slightest challenges that come with it at times. I try to take each thing as a lesson in disguise, even if it doesn’t make sense. One challenge that I faced early on was ensuring that my audience would gain something from the conversations being had on my show. Overall, my hopes are always that someone can take something helpful from myself or a guest, and to also continue growing an inclusive and safe community.

Thank you so much Chiquita!
